If you are receiving an error code like ‘Error -2’ or similar when opening a .ccx file (or if you are running a torrented version of Photoshop 24.0 or higher), you may want to explore other options for installing the plugin. Unfortunately, Adobe has not yet come out with an all-encompassing solution for some of these errors. However there are still ways to get the .ccx file up and working. Below I’ve outlined those methods.
First, however, please be sure to try the following remedies:
1. Make sure the .ccx Installer file and the Photoshop and CreativeCloud app are all on the same drive partition. (Error code -2 sometimes means the .ccx file is on a different drive or partition than your “UnifiedPluginInstallerAgent” which opens the .ccx installers.) See step 2 to fix.
-------------
2a. Try copying the .ccx Installer file to Desktop (or to the “Downloads” folder) and then installing it from there.
2b. If on Mac: try copying the .ccx Installer file into 'Applications > Adobe Photoshop' - and then double clicking the .ccx file to install from there.
NOTE: Find the Applications folder where PS is installed in, typically this is in Macintosh HD > Applications, and can be reached by clicking the 'Applications' folder in the left-hand Favorites panel of the Finder. From here, open up the "Adobe Photoshop [latest-version]" folder, and drag the .ccx file inside. Then, double-click the .ccx file to initiate install.

3. Right-click on .ccx Installer file, Open With: “UnifiedPluginInstallerAgent.app”
4. Ensure that the Creative Cloud app is running the latest release. Try logging out of the Creative Cloud desktop app and restarting the computer. Then log back into Creative Cloud via the desktop app and try again.
If the above remedies fail, please attempt one of the solutions outlined below ↓
